For those of you who attended my sourcing lab session at SourceCon, I wanted to do a formal post and touch on the subjects covered in a little bit more detail. I think I’m going to do this over a series of postings since it was a lot of material to cover. This first post is simply to include the links for the tools and such that I covered.
The first tool I covered was RocketDock. It’s such a wonderful little addon which it would appear has been added to Windows7… but for those of you still running 2K/XP/Vista, it’s wonderful. The one docklet I covered (docklets are addons for rocketdock) is called StacksDocklet2. It allows the user to group icons together. Here are the links to both Rocket Dock and StackDocklet2.
The second tool I covered in the presentation was MacroExpress. This tool allows you to run and create a series of application independent macros to do things which you may find time consuming. The layout is very simple and although it may take a little bit of time to get the hang of, will/can save you hours upon hours of time in the future. I will be posting a how to/walkthrough some basic macros, as well as uploading a few of my own for example purposes in the very near future. For now, I would advise downloading it, and giving it a shot. It’s free for 30 days days, and the cost to own is very minimal for the effectiveness of it. The Pro version costs $59.95 and the lesser version costs only $39.95. I’m in no way affiliated w/ the company and don’t get any re-seller perks, but if there is a survey asking where you heard, please list me. I have spoken to their creators and did let them know that I would be doing a lab on it a few weeks ago^^
Now… Although I didn’t get into these two tools in particular very much if at all, they were in line for discussion and their useful nature is wonderful. One of these was in fact covered during Russ Moon and John Turnberg’s presentation at SourceCon and can be viewed HERE. The tools themselves are iMacro and My Weekly Browsing Schedule. When used together, they make one heck of a combination and playing w/ them is also highly advised until I get to a full work up.
Well, I just wanted to get those guys covered and up on the blog for the moment in case anyone needed download links etc for them. I will be going in greater depth w/ all of them in very near future, so keep an eye out over the next day or so!
Cheers^^
Mike
